When Joan, age 47, came to ProRehab she had been suffering for three weeks with consistent neck pain that was radiating to her right shoulder blade. However, she had not suffered any trauma that might have caused the pain. Her pain rating was a 6 out of 10 and was struggling to bend and rotate towards her right side. Joan was also suffering daily headaches as a result of the pain.
How We Helped: After examination by a ProRehab therapist, Joan was prescribed manual physical therapy and exercise to be completed in 6 total visits over the course of 3 weeks.
Where They Are Now: Upon completion of her treatment, Joan’s neck and shoulder pain has resolved completely and she is back to full range-of-motion. Her headaches are milder and less frequent and can be managed with stretching.
Chris is a 32-year-old male who complained of consistent low back pain, which he rated a 7 out of 10, after lifting some heavy items at home. He was struggling to bend forward and was also unable to take part in family and recreational activities.
How We Helped: After his initial evaluation, Chris' physical therapist began receiving a combination of spinal manipulative treatment & exercise. He was seen for a total of 4 visits over 3 weeks.
Where They Are Now: Chris' pain has completely resolved (0 of 10) and he is able to perform forward bending motions without pain again. He is thrilled to be able to enjoy his family and recreational activities without limitations!
Pat, aged 60, was suffering from right knee pain that had been present for several years and recently worsened. He sprained his knee years ago but had no recent trauma that might have caused it to worsen. Before physical therapy, Pat had constant knee pain and associated thigh discomfort. His initial knee pain rating was a 5 out of 10 and he was unable to fully flex the knee.
How We Helped: After examination by his his ProRehab therapist, Pat was prescribed manual physical therapy and therapeutic exercise for a total of 8 visits over the course of 4 weeks.
Where They Are Now: Pat is back to fishing! His knee and thigh pain occurs only occasionally and is minimal (1 out of 10). He now has full range of motion and walks over 30 minutes a day without pain or limping.
Sandy, a 58-year-old woman with breast cancer, had recently undergone surgery to remove the lymph nodes under her armpits (also know as axillary lymph node dissection). Her incisions had completely healed from surgery but she was still experiencing some discomfort and swelling. Before physical therapy, her upper arm circumference was 3 centimeters larger than before.
How We Helped: After a comprehensive evaluation, Sandy’s physical therapist recommended she attend physical therapy three times a week for three weeks. The swollen areas were drained and compressed, and her therapist guided her through various stretches and exercises.
Where They Are Now: Sandy's arm circumference is back down to its pre-surgery size. She is no longer in pain and has an increased range of motion in her shoulders. Sandy is able to spend more time with her granddaughter, doing the things she loves!
Linda, age 46, was experiencing pain in her left hip that had gradually worsened over the last year. She participates in a yoga class with her daughters on a regular basis but has no history of injury that might have caused her pain. Before physical therapy, Linda had constant groin & thigh pain (which she rated 7 out of 10) that caused occasional knee pain and was struggling to internally rotate her left hip.
How We Helped: After examination, Linda’s therapist prescribed manual physical therapy and exercise for a total of 8 visits over 4 weeks.
Where They Are Now: Linda's pain has resolved to a 0 out of 10, and she is able to rotate her hip internally. She is thrilled to be pain free and back in her yoga class!
